Installing on Windows

Requires Windows 10 version 1809 or later (64-bit).

Prerequisites

Semantic Modeler requires Microsoft Edge WebView2. It comes pre-installed on Windows 10 (April 2018 update and later) and Windows 11. If for some reason it's missing, download the Evergreen Runtime from the WebView2 download page.

Download

Head to the Downloads page and grab the Windows installer (SemanticModeler-win-Setup.exe).

Install

  1. Run SemanticModeler-win-Setup.exe.
  2. The installer takes care of everything. It creates shortcuts on your Desktop and in the Start Menu.
  3. Open Semantic Modeler from the shortcut.
Tip

You can verify your download hasn't been tampered with by comparing the SHA-256 hash on the Downloads page:

Get-FileHash .\SemanticModeler-win-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Updates

Semantic Modeler checks for updates automatically in the background. When an update is ready, it's applied the next time you launch the app. No action needed on your part.

Uninstall

Remove Semantic Modeler from Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Control Panel > Programs and Features (Windows 10).

Option B: Portable

The portable version runs from any folder without installing. Useful if you don't have admin rights or want to keep it on a USB drive.

Download

Head to the Downloads page and grab the portable archive (SemanticModeler-win-Portable.zip).

Install

  1. Extract the .zip to any folder (e.g., C:\Tools\SemanticModeler).
  2. Run Semantic Modeler.exe from the extracted folder.
Note

The portable version does not create Start Menu or Desktop shortcuts. You can create one manually by right-clicking Semantic Modeler.exe and choosing Create shortcut.

Updates

The portable version does not update automatically. Download the latest portable archive from the Downloads page and replace the existing files.
