The Interface
When you first open Semantic Modeler, you'll see the Welcome screen with options to create, import, or open a model. Once you have a model open, the main workspace appears.
The interface is organized into a few key areas:
- Activity Bar (left edge): Icon buttons that switch between panels like Explorer, Projects, and Environments.
- Sidebar (left panel): Shows the content of whichever activity you've selected.
- Main Area (center): Where you work with your model, either as a visual diagram or a data grid.
- Properties Panel (right): Edit the selected object's properties, including names, DAX expressions, format strings, data types, and more.
- Data Preview (bottom): Shows a preview of the data in the selected table.
- Toolbar (top): Quick access to Save, Process, Publish, and view toggles.
- Status Bar (bottom edge): Shows your license status and other context.
