Troubleshooting Licenses

Having trouble activating or using your license? Here are the most common issues and how to fix them.

"License key not found"

The key doesn't exist in the system. Double-check for typos. If you're using a commercial master key, confirm with your admin that the key hasn't been regenerated recently.

"This license is no longer active"

Your subscription has been cancelled or suspended. Check your subscription status at factfoundry.io and update your payment method if needed.

"This license has expired"

Renew your subscription at factfoundry.io.

"Machine limit reached"

All your available seats are in use. To activate on a new machine, you need to free up a seat first:

  • Deactivate an unused machine from Settings > License > Deactivate This Machine
  • Or deactivate remotely from the Fact Foundry portal
  • Or purchase additional seats (commercial licenses)

"This machine has been disabled by your license administrator"

Your organization's admin deactivated your machine. Contact them to re-enable it.

"Unable to reach the license server"

The app can't connect to api.fact-foundry.com. Check your internet connection. If you're behind a corporate firewall, make sure outbound HTTPS traffic to api.fact-foundry.com is allowed.

The app continues to work for up to 7 days without reaching the server (offline grace period). After that, you'll need to reconnect.

Trial Expired

After the 30-day trial, the app locks until you activate a license. Purchase one at semanticmodeler.com and follow the activation steps.

"Trial already used"

Each machine can only use the trial once. If you've reinstalled the app, the trial is still tied to your machine's hardware fingerprint. You'll need to purchase a license to continue.

Sign-In Issues

Browser doesn't open: Make sure you have a default browser configured on your system.

Sign-in completes but license doesn't activate: Verify that your Fact Foundry account has an active license associated with it. Check Settings > License for the current status.
